Extinction! The Musical
"Extinction!
You might not seem to care
Young man
But our story is quite
Gargantuan
Most people lack
An appreciation
But we’re here to give you
Some education
Let’s get started...
The Irish Elk was
An impressive creature
His massive antlers were
An aggressive feature
He used to be a big hit
With all the ladies
Had a jolly old time
And made loads of babies
Though through the ages
They were great for flirting
The hefty head gear
Formed a bit of a burden
Till one fateful day
When he was out and about
He got caught in the trees
And couldn’t get out!
So many creatures we have seen
Have suffered expiration
It makes you think, what does it mean?
What is the explanation?
Ex-ex-ex-ex
Extinction
Extinction
Ex-ex-ex-ex
Extinction (No good for me)
Extinction (No good for you)
So here’s the story of
The Giant Rice Rat
He was about the size
Of a regular cat
On an island
In the Caribbean
It was like a long
Va-ca-tion
He was usually
Spotted feasting
On the coconut
Plan-ta-tion
For eating the crops
They got hunted down
Their numbers really
E-ro-ded
But in the end
They were really done
When the mountain
Ex-plo-ded
The lava
Was ruthless
There was no place
To go
Just one guy
Survived
Locked up down
Be-low
So many creatures we have seen
Have suffered expiration
It makes you think, what does it mean?
What is the explanation?
Ex-ex-ex-ex
Extinction
Extinction
Ex-ex-ex-ex
Extinction (No good for me)
Extinction (No good for you)
He was a hill dwelling Ibex
With poise and grace
They say you only live once
Well not in his case
They were hunted for fur
Down to a lesser few
Then they got rounded up
And chucked in a zoo
Happy and peaceful was
His time on the ranch
‘Till one frightful day
He got brained by a branch
That’s surely the end
You might have thought
But he actually came back
Though the time was short
Cloned in a tube
But his grand encore
Lasted just seven minutes
Then he was no more
So many creatures we have seen
Have suffered expiration
It makes you think, what does it mean?
What is the explanation?
Ex-ex-ex-ex
Extinction
Extinction
Ex-ex-ex-ex
Extinction (No good for me)
Extinction (No good for you)
Now there you have it
I’m nearly done
But if you ask me my opinion
The human race
Are pretty dumb
About the beast of their dominion
Take it from me
It happened to us
And there’s a strong potentiality
That you could be next
On the endangered list
It’ll be “so long, humanity”!
